First Lady Toya Griswell Bell has been a lover and follower of Jesus for most of her life. She came to

know Him at the age of nine while attending Sunday School. She was the first one in her immediate

family to have a profession of faith. As she got older, she would attend services at her home church,

which was then known as, First Assembly of God in Somerset, NJ, where she participated in Sunday

School and in the church’s youth ministries. After graduating from college, she served on their Executive

Board, overseeing missions’ outreach.

After marrying then Deacon Joseph Bell, Jr in 1992, Sister Toya Bell became a member of Bethel Holy

Church. Not long after joining the church, she became very busy at Bethel. She taught Sunday School,

conducted Children’s Church services, and served as a Deaconess. Sister Toya was very heavily involved

in several of Bethel’s music ministries, including the Voices of Praise; the Bethel Women’s Choir; the

Gospel Fellowship Ensemble; the Bethel Holy Church Choir, the Women In Worship, and several other

Bethel-based choirs and music groups. Sister Toya is currently one of the longest serving members of

the New York-New England District Choir, for which she was a member for over thirty years. She also

served as one of the directors of the Kingdom Kids Children’s Church Choir.

In 2007, Bethel’s Women’s Ministry, Sisters of Virtue, was founded. Sister Toya was appointed to

conduct Bible Studies with the Women of Bethel on the first Sundays of the month and continues in this

capacity to this day. In 2010, after almost two decades of faithfulness and dedication to the Bethel

Deaconess Board, Sister Toya was installed as chairperson of the Bethel Deaconess Board and serves in

this capacity to this day. Upon the pastoral installation of her husband, Pastor Joseph Bell in 2016, Sister

Toya became the first lady of Bethel Holy Church.

The Lord blessed Lady Toya with an impressive teaching career. She was an early childhood education

teacher, teaching Pre-K -1 st grade in the Englewood Public Schools as well as kindergarten teacher at the

Hackensack Christian School. Lady Toya has had the joy and honor of homeschooling her own children,

as well as using her teaching skills to minister to the children of Bethel.

Lady Toya has been blessed with a wonderful family. She has been happily married to her husband,

Joseph Bell since April of 1992. They have been blessed with four children, Joseph III, Victoria Grace,

James, and Olivia Joy.
